Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s single had millions shaking their hips “Side to Side.” The song was the third single for her studio album Dangerous Woman that did really well with a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. Classified as a reggae-pop song, it features Nicki Minaj, and was produced by Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh. The song peaked at number 4 on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, becoming her first top-five single from Dangerous Woman. Amita McDonald (12th) says, “I don’t usually listen to Ariana Grande but I really like the song and it’s pretty catchy.” The song spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart, becoming Grande’s second number-one on that chart, and Minaj’s first. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj performed “Side to Side” at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards. Grande also promoted the song with televised performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “Side to Side” is written in the key of F♯ minor with a common time tempo of 159 beats per minute. Grande’s vocals span two octaves, from the low note of F♯3 to the mixed note of F♯5. Desiree Salaver (12th) says, “I like some of Ariana Grande songs and when she works with Nicki Minaj the song is usually good.” The song also has a music video to go along with it directed by Hannah Lux Davis and premiered on American clothing brand Guess’s website on the night of August 28, 2016. It surpassed 100 million views on September 19, 2016, making it Grande’s twelfth Vevo-certified music video (reaching over 100 million hits) after “Into You” and Minaj’s twenty-fourth Vevo-certified music video.
