Shut-Out Against Rivals

The Lady Eagles had a dominating victory over their Westlake rivals on their home field. Even after the girls started the season uncomfortably after having a new coach assigned just before the start of the season, after several weeks under the new head coach, the team seemingly has overcome the challenge. The Lady Eagles won 12-0 with 5 of the goals coming from Brianna Reid alone (12th). During the summer, Head Coach DeCook transferred to become the Boys Varsity Soccer head coach. It was not until the final weeks of the summer break that Coach Webb was appointed head coach of the Lady Eagles with his experience in coaching JV soccer. The team was anxious to see who would become their coach and with such short notice, it was obvious that they would have to get to work right away and adjust the team chemistry. Tailor Gammons (12th) says, “This season with the new coach has been okay, there were some issues in the beginning, as expected, because it’s a transition with a new coach with new ideas and new playing style. We needed time to get used to all the changes, but in the end we came out stronger than ever and we all have the same goal to get the state ring at the end of the season.” The team has good chemistry and it shows out on the field where they move the ball around swiftly and precisely. Desiree Salaver (12th) says, “The season first started slow and drama filled but once the season started to progress, the team and coach are like family.” The team’s record is currently 10-2 and they will play for the SMAC title Tuesday 10/25 against the Northern Patriots.
