The restaurant which placed first for World’s Best Restaurant, Osteria Francescana.

With food being present throughout our everyday lives whether as a need or a want, there are restaurants that stand out more than others. There are even prizes for what are considered the World’s Best Restaurants. The most recent award ceremony held in New York June 13 placed Osteria Francescana at first over second from last year’s awards. Osteria Francescana placed first over Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca which had earned first the previous year. Osteria Francescana is located in the small city of     Modena in Northern Italy’s Emilia Romagna region. According to CNN, the man credited with reinventing Italian cuisine, Massimo Bottura, is the reason for having placed first in the awards and very happily accepted the award on behalf of the restaurant. New York’s Eleven Madison Park also did well moving up two places to earn third among the fifty restaurants presented at the awards ceremony.

When thinking of the high-quality food that come from this professional-grade restaurants. It is easy to distinguish the difference between their food and presentation compared to that of our school’s. Although they are different in style as our school serves food in a grab-and-go style compared to the traditional restaurant sitting and dining experience. When I asked Andrew Goodrich (17’) what he would like to see change in the cafeteria for next year would be, “The cafeteria use the message boards to display what food is available in the lines like they did my freshman year and for them to serve a larger variety of food.” Although school lunches have a long way to go to be considered top-quality, the cafeteria workers are always working hard to provide food to students.
