Are you looking for scholarship money to pay for college? The Charles County Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to Charles County high school seniors. And Applications are open!

There are over forty-five different scholarships offered. Each scholarship has different criteria which can be based on a range of things. Some are for specific majors, or schools, others are based off of financial need, or the quality of a written essay. To apply, look online at www.ccboe.com/community/students/collegeinfo.php to see if you are eligible for any scholarships. If you see a scholarship you are interested in, you should see Ms. Grow in the college center after you have completed the following items: a cover sheet of the application completed (print or type) and signed, a copy of your resume that must include,  1) work experience, 2) extra-curricular activities, and 3) community service activities during high school,  a typed  personal statement on a separate sheet that must include the following, 1) academic goals and 2) career goals, two letters of recommendation (one from an academic source and one from someone who knows you well), any additional typewritten comments you or your parent wish to make on a separate sheet that explain any financial need or circumstances that you or your parent(s) or guardian(s) feel might help the Scholarship Selection Committee make its decision, an official copy of your high school transcript and a copy of your first semester senior year report card. You may enclose your SAT/ACT scores if you have them, and if you apply for any of the scholarships whose criteria include merit and financial need, you must print and enclose a complete copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) form for the 2017-18 FAFSA. Ms. Grow advises interested applicants to “read the scholarship information carefully for its specific eligibility requirements and application instructions.”

All Charles County Scholarship winners will be featured during the senior award ceremony. Applications must be turned in to the Career Center of your high school by the end of the school day Wednesday, March 1, 2017 or mailed with sufficient postage and postmarked by Wednesday, March 1, 2017 to Charles County Scholarship Fund, Attn: Alicia Jones, P.O.
