Hailing all the way from the Concrete jungle, Ms. Attonito is North Point High school’s very own new math teacher. “I just really love math and I’m happy that I get to teach it.” Ms. Attonito said when asked about her current occupation and subject. “The moment when a kid doesn’t get it, and then suddenly gets it. That is the greatest moment, and that’s just what made me want to do it.” Attonito’s genuine love for math, and time spent as a teacher’s assistant at a high school while studying to become certified in actuarial science, are the things she says contributed to her current career choice. “I started working in a high school, fell in love with it, and decided that’s what I wanted to do.”

When Attonito is not flipping numbers you could possibly find her at a concert, playing outside, or baking. She even had her own baking business back in New York. “I had business cards…I used to work at Starbucks, way back when, and customers would come in and ask me to bake something for them separately.”

Ms. Attonito also says there is not much difference between her students in New York and her students at North Point, though she herself was not your average student. “I was nerdy and overachieving. One of the boring ones that did everything. I was president of student government, key club, jazz club, and band. I was also editor of the paper.” Attonito said. Her favorite subject was math of course. She likes the skills that math teaches even when it is not being used directly, and she is very happy to share those skills with her new students.
