The Last Draw

Tonight was the last night seven seniors stepped on the home field for the regular season. These young ladies were honored tonight for their hard work and dedication to the North Point girls lacrosse program. They were given charming bouquets of flowers and were escorted by their loved ones out of the infamous eagle tunnel.

On this memorable evening, the Lady Eagles faced the visiting Lady Wolverines from Westlake High School. The game was too close for comfort in the first half although they were leading, but they soon ran away with the lead winning the game 18-3. Their hot shooters for the night involved several seniors including Kelly Martin with a total of five goals and Megan Wysocki with a total of four goals and an equal amount of assists.

It would not be a great night without spring a “promposal.”  Senior captain Sydney(’14) Patterson was surprised during halftime with a proposal to prom be her boyfriend Derek Lane(’14). She wore a big smile on her face as she ran across the field surrounded by her family and friends. This was more than motivating to the Lady Eagles to come out and play harder despite some bad calls.

The seniors have grown to love the sport and are sad that the regular season is coming to an end.  They were all in agreement that it was a bittersweet feeling.  “We’ve had a good run this team this year,” says Patterson(’14), “It was a huge improvement from our other years and I am just really happy I could be a part of it.”

Senior Kelly Martin(’14) also had a lot of great experiences with the North Point Program as well and had this to say about her team: “I’m leaving a team I spent four years with and I love every single one of these girls. They really have impacted my whole entire life and I will never forget them.” Martin(’14) has been playing lacrosse for five years and will be continuing her lacrosse career in college and will be committing to one of two schools in North Carolina.

The lady Eagles were sad to see their last home game; they still have more to play in the weeks to come.
