Patriots Outlast Eagles

The North Point varsity soccer team took on their first game of the season and put up a great fight against the Northern Patriots, who are the defending Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) champions. Northern is known to have a very good soccer team but the Eagles held it together and kept a solid defense throughout the game. The defense made a lot of great plays to hold the Patriots away from a blow out. Although it may have been a loss for the Eagles they worked hard to hold it together and kept the game a tie for the whole first half, with the help of their strong defense and goalie, Jalen Gore (15’). Gore (15’) made ten amazing and nearly almost impossible saves keeping the team’s momentum going. Unfortunately it seemed the momentum shifted back in the Patriots favor when they scored on a penalty kick in the second half of play.

Matt Rohrbaugh (15’) scored the only goal against northern, preventing a shutout for the Patriots, that kept the Eagles in the game. They held their heads up and their spirits high. Their teamwork and hard work contributed to their great performance “We aren’t the biggest team, but we can pass the ball and have great camaraderie” says Kyle McMillen 15’. They did not lose this game without a fight. The eagles showed that they separated themselves from other teams by not giving up through almost impossible odds, “The key aspects of this team are what separate us from the other schools. We have so much talent in so many areas of the field,” says Daniel Rye (15’).

Although this was a defeat for the Eagles, they fought hard, and the only direction for North Point Varsity boys’ soccer team is up. Come out and support the Boys Varsity soccer team.
