La Plata has many good dining choices, and its fair share of chain restaurants, but if you are ever in the need for something unique, try the family owned El Dorado Restaurant.
When you walk into the restaurant you see the pink painted walls and the Spanish mural. Spanish music is continuously playing, creating an authentic feeling of the culture. Diners are told to pick a table of their choice and moments later a waiter is over with homemade tortilla chips and salsa. All food is made fresh.
The menu offers a variety of foods, of both the Spanish and Mexican cuisine. A customer favorite is the Gambas al Ajillo, which is six jumbo shrimp sautéed in olive oil, garlic, and white wine with bread on the side. The meals are well portioned and well-priced. You’ll leave the restaurant full and satisfied.
I ordered the Plato Noreño, which had three enchiladas: cheese, chicken, and beef. The meal came with Mexican rice and refried beans. The flavors were very rich. The chicken and cheese enchiladas had a bit of a spicy kick to them. The meal was very tasty.
With its warm, homey atmosphere the restaurant is very family friendly. It makes for the perfect outing on a nice Sunday evening. If you ever are looking for an affordable family dinner, think El Dorado restaurant.
