Meet the new Ghostbusters
Director Paul Feig, who previously directed Bridesmaids and The Heat, is set to direct a new take on Ghostbuster, one with an all women cast as the Ghostbusters. The cast includes Melissa McCarthy who previously worked with Feig in Bridesmaids and The Heat, along with Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
The news arose Tuesday after Feig tweeted a picture of the four leads. As of now there aren’t many details about the movie aside the main characters and the scriptwriter Katie Dippold and the producer Ivan Reitman. The story is set to center around a new generation of Ghostbusters who are female instead of male.
Dan Aykroyd,, who co-wrote and starred as Dr. Raymond Stanz in the original Ghostbusters approves of the new movie. He regards it as a reimagining of the original movie. Even with Aykroyd’s approval of the new movie, the movie had been met with a lot of criticism. The critics, regard it as “confusing” and “upsetting”.
Unknown is which roles the women are actually playing along with when production will begin. It doesn’t seem soon due to the fact of scheduling conflicts between the ladies. The movie is set to be released Summer 2016.
