The Chainsmokers

The+Chainsmokers

A duo not made for singing but electronic dance music is what defines The Chainsmokers. The duo is made up of two talented DJ’s, Andew Taggart and Alex Pall. The EDM DJ duo was formed in 2012 under the management of Adam Alpert in New York City where they originate from. They started by making remixes but had their first collaboration with Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra while producing the single “Erase,” which was followed by “The Rookie” in early 2013. The single that gave them an initial popularity boost was “#Selfie” that was initially released for free in December 2013. Dim Mak Records got the song to re-release it in January of the next year and eventually streamed it to Republic Records. To keep themselves in the spotlight, the duo released “Kanye” which featured SirenXX in August 2014. Then on March 3, 2015, they released “Let You Go,” featuring “Great Good Fine Ok.” These songs made The Chainsmokers known and are now able to release songs with more anticipation.

Under the same manager, the duo signed on to his joint venture label with Sony Music Entertainment, Disruptor Records, in April 2015. Then on October 23rd of the same year, The Chainsmokers released their first EP titled Bouquet, featuring “New York City,” “Until You Were Gone,” “Waterbed,” “Good Intentions,” and “Roses.” The hit song of the EP is “Roses,” which reached Number 6 on the US charts and gave them an excess of popularity. Tristan Sarabia (17’) says that he likes the duo because “of the style of music they use in their songs. Styles such as the beats they provide from the beginning to the chorus and to the ending.” His favorite song is “Roses” and knew about the song before it became popular enough to be on the radio. The duo are now scheduled to release their debut album later this year and have already released “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring Daya as a taste of their development. The Chainsmokers produce good music for people to listen to if they are working out or want to get pumped up as most of their songs consist of upbeat styles.
