A D.C. Council member had to apologize over the weekend for suggesting that Jewish financiers control the weather and had even propagated the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory in the past.

Democratic D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr., claimed in a video that the Rothschilds (a European Jewish banking family descended from Mayer Amschel Rothschild) control the World Bank and the federal government. He made these claims during a gathering of top city officials on February 27th. “There’s this whole concept with the Rothschilds…infusing dollars into major cities,” White said, in the video. “They really pretty much control the federal government, and now they have this concept called resilient cities in which they are using their money and influence into local cities.” No one in the room, including Democratic Mayor Muriel E. Bowser, challenged White’s remarks. Ms. Bowser later said that his comments were not acceptable.

Just recently, White was forced to apologize for pushing the Rothschild conspiracy when it came to “climate control.” While shooting a brief Facebook video Friday morning of him driving through snowy Washington, Mr. White said, “Man, it just started snowing out of nowhere this morning, man. Y’all better pay attention to this climate control, man, this climate manipulation. And D.C. keep talking about, ‘We’re a resilient city.’ And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful.”

Senior Miina Tarjamo commented on the subject saying, “How could someone be so ridiculous? It’s such an outrageous claim that it doesn’t seem all too real. I hope that it’s a joke or else his confidence about saying this aloud speaks volumes about what’s going on internally.”

Mr. White initially defended his comments, but apologized Sunday evening after he gained criticism. He says that this was all just a joke and wasn’t meant to be taken seriously, though some have doubts. Senior Mia Witherspoon responded, “I don’t believe [White’s] claim that this was all a joke. It seems too serious and unsarcastic. To me, he’s trying to cover his tracks because he knows he messed up.”

So far, White hasn’t faced any major repercussions, but who knows what will occur as the story progresses.
