Remembering Bradley Alan Brown – April 27, 2002 – February 18, 2020
A tragedy struck the North Point community when learning that a student, Bradley Alan Brown, a 17- year-old senior, was shot and killed in his driveway in Bryans Road, Maryland on February 18, 2020. This sudden loss devastated North Point students and left us all wondering why a fellow student was taken too soon.
Bradley was the son of a Prince George’s County police officer and an Eagle Scout. Scout Board Member Mike Spruill is quoted as saying “Bradley had so much potential it’s just heartbreaking to see it end this way”. He attended North Point for all four years of his high school experience and was a part of the Criminal Justice program. North Point students mourned this loss by decorating Bradley’s parking spot with flowers, writing messages in chalk and wearing blue in his memory. Bradley’s funeral took place on Friday February 28, 2020 where friends and family gathered together to say their goodbyes.
This situation has left us with many questions about Bradley’s death and hoping that the memories of his life will not be in vain. Our ‘wonder’ must lead to knowledge and understanding of the social and environmental factors that influence young adults and leads them to dangerous, and sadly, deadly situations. As a community, let’s help prevent another tragedy.
