Many people may have noticed that the “67” meme has recently become viral on TikTok and Instagram Reels, which has been captivating Gen 7 and Gen Alpha audiences.   But many people may not know the true meaning behind this various meme.

How Did This Meme Come to Be?

The meme’s roots trace back to the song “Doot Doot (6.7)” by an American rapper named Skrilla. It was originally released in December 2024. The repeated lyric “6-7” was used in video edits which featured professional basketball players, mostly LaMelo Ball, who is described as 6 feet and 7 inches tall. The term “6-7″ began to symbolize something that is “very tall” or in other words “impressive,” and it spread as a form of colloquialism among younger audiences.

The meme additionally gained significant traction when a Youtuber named Cam Wilder posted a video titled “MY OVERPOWERED AAU TEAM HAS FINALLY RETURNED!” on March 31, 2025.  At 13:24, a child later dubbed the “6-7″ kid,” approaches the camera and exclaims, “Six-seven,” in a modulated voice. The clip went viral on TikTok, and the accompanying hand gesture—alternating hands with palms facing upward– while saying the term “6-7″ became a popular trend.

The Darker Meaning behind “6-7”

In August 2025, the meme had taken a darker turn with the emergence of mentioning the “SCP-6-7 Kid.” with a distorted, wide-open mouth, reminiscent of analog horror aesthetics. The name SCP-67 references the SCP Foundation, a collaborative fiction project about fictional paranormal anomalies.
