In the month of February, the NFL will be heading off to the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is currently planned to be streamed on February 8, 2026. If you’re anything like me, you might not know much about football or the Super Bowl at all, maybe even just the halftime show. So, with my help, I’ll give you a short rundown of the halftime show and the teams.
This year the halftime show will open with the band Green Day before the Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny enters. Green Day is an American rock band with many popular songs such as “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Good Riddance,” and “21 Guns.” These songs have contributed greatly to their popularity as a punk rock band. After the opening ceremony, Bad Bunny will continue the rest of the show. Some of his currently well-known songs are “MIA,” “No Me Conoce,” “Yonaguni,” “Ojitos Lindos,”Callaita,” and his feature in Cardi B’s song “I Like It.”
There were some arguments about Bad Bunny being the artist in the Super Bowl due to his ethnicity. This dislike for Bad Bunny simply ties back to racism and prejudices. Especially with our current president, blatant and normalizing racism is becoming a larger issue. This led to the inclusion of Green Day as the opening to break some of the tension that was being created. Some people were going as far as to say they would stop watching the Super Bowl, which is especially surprising as it is one of the most widespread streamed sports.
Since the half time show is in the middle of the game, let’s switch our focus back to the two teams. For this year’s Super Bowl, Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will be playing against each other. At 6:30pm you can enjoy the intense game accompanied by your loved ones and some delicious game snacks. Currently, the Super Bowl will be steamed on NBC, Peacock, YouTube TV, Sling TV, and DirecTV. This weekend I’ll be rooting for the Seahawks, and may the best team win!
