Batter Up
Preparing to retire from the lonesome seasons of fall and winter, the baseball field slowly thaws, and with it, the burning yearns from its athletes for uniforms, records, teamwork, and wins. Bonding as a family, the baseball team demonstrates the two vital components of the sport: union and function. As returning Varsity players reflect on the successes of obtaining a deep seat in the playoffs, they also have aspirations and goals for this year.
Overall, the baseball team will face some hurdles, such as duplicating last year’s season, especially with the loss of key players, however, an optimistic vibe is carried throughout the team. “Everyone is excited and ready to see what the season brings. We have new coaches who are going to carry the North Point streak of winning. We also have a lot of good talent ranging from every grade level on the varsity team.” Said Jonathan Martinez (16’). The new additional coaches will be Coach Kirby, Coach Fletcher, Coach Gerber, and Coach Burton, while Coach Nadalski will remain the head coach.
The baseball team will also be anticipating their portentous rivals, the La Plata Warriors, in dire hopes of knocking them out of their competition to win the SMAC Championship. The Eagles will start the season with a scrimmage against the Warriors on Monday, and another scrimmage against the Huntingtown Hurricanes on Tuesday. The first official game, however, will take place on Friday against the Thomas Stone Cougars.
