On Saturday, November 14th, the Cross Country team participated in the State Championships at Hereford High School in Parkton, MD. The runners were preparing weeks ahead in order to be in their best shape, and on Wednesday, November 11th, Justin Davis (’16) and Miina Tarjamo (’18) shared their views and expectations for the meet.
The Cross Country team is known for their outstanding runners and their determination. Davis said that the championships would be “pretty intense.” He shared that in Regionals, they came in fifth place, so their expectations were high and he felt his team could really stand out. Davis and Tarjamo stated that people should look out for their top runners, including Rachel Nueslein, whose achievements include finishing in 1st place in the 5000 meter run at the Quad Meet on September 15th and finishing in 2nd place at the Regionals on November 5th. The only concerns that Davis and Tarjamo had were about safety. Tarjamo hoped that “no one gets injured/doesn’t push themselves too hard.”
All of their practice paid off and North Point placed 19th in the male division for three mile varsity and 15th for the female division.
