The poms team is known for their amazing technique and experience in band dance, hip hop, lyrical, jazz, and prop dances. On Sunday April 10th, around ten girls will accompany Coach Alleyne for the second time to the dance festival at King’s Dominion. They will have the opportunity to compete against other companies, showcase their talent, and spend some free time on rides and attractions. Everyone who participates will receive a ribbon and certificate, while three top winners will be announced and a “Highest Point Total Trophy” will be given to groups in each category.

Throughout this year, the poms team has “united” and “created better relationships,” says Nikyah Barber (’17). Barber was on the team during the 2013 fall season, and has returned to the team in the beginning of the 2015 school year. She has been dancing since she was young and greatly enjoys the various events that she can attend, like the upcoming festival. When asked about her views on the festival, she shared that she is “excited, because [she’s] never done this before.” Coach Alleyne is looking forward to it as well.
