North Point has a Bocce Team?
Introduction to Bocce – Bocce is a sport where you roll a ball at the pelina (a smaller ball) and try to get your ball close to the pelina for points. There are typically 4 balls for each team one color red and the other green.
The objective of this game is to roll your ball as close as you can to the pelina.
Bocce Rules – An athlete stands behind a foul line and can’t go past it. The ball must stay in the box closest to the pelina. Each athlete gets to roll the ball 4 times. When rolling the ball you can hit the pelina and other teams’ balls without penalty, this just changes where the target is and where your balls will be. When an athlete steps inside the court you can’t talk to your teammate. To decide the person who has their ball closest to the pelina the referee will measure the ball’s distance away from the pelina with a tape measure.
Bocces Difficulties – The hardest part of Bocce is working together as a team. The coach Mr. Birch learns everyone’s strengths

and weaknesses and tries to make the best teams of pairs that can work successfully together.
Jobs in Pairs – In each pair there is a student and there’s an athlete. The student’s job is to help the athletes by explaining and helping develop things like play and strategy in a way that would be best understood by the athlete. The athlete’s job is to play the game with the plays and strategies developed by the team. Communication is the absolute key to Bocce.
