HITS Expo 2016
This year Charles County Public Schools began a new event called the History, Industry, Technology, and Sciences Expo (HITS). The expo is in place to replace the typical history and science fairs and featured several programs and activities while also showcasing student ability. All of Charles County Public Schools were invited. The programs featured included coding and robotics. This year’s HITS expo was hosted in St. Charles High School on Saturday, March 19th.
Inside the expo were programs such as games with scratch (a computer application), hour of code, and a man showing historical US artifacts. There were people from all over the county along with a multitude of different activities and exhibits. Dorian Brown (’17) was a volunteer in the exhibit. One of his favorite aspects was the planetarium which was “extremely interesting” and had “a bit of history in it too.”
The winners of the HITS expo were: First place- Grace Bowie (’19) in medicine and health science and Tyler Ulmschneider (’19) in environmental science. Second place- Jenna Papagno (’19) in medicine and health science. Third place- Alicia Edwards (’19) in medicine and health science and Sarah Shay (’19) in physics and astronomy.
