For Yvonna, a senior at North Point, each school day begins at 7:15 with a morning routine of brushing her teeth, washing her face, styling her hair, and getting dressed. On her bus ride to school, she takes a moment to mentally prepare for the day, chatting with friends along the way. A quick breakfast- either a fruit or a breakfast bar – keeps her energized.
Upon arriving to school, Yvonne stops by her locker before heading straight to class. To stay on top of her assignments, she meticulously organizes her workload, jotting down due dates to remain on track. Her favorite subject? Photography. But academics are not her only focus- she is an active member of the North Point Poms Team, Girl Scouts, the National Honor Society, and the National Technical Honor Society.
The most challenging part of her schedule is tackling first-block classes in the mods, but for Yvonna, ensuring she gets enough sleep is a top priority. After a long school day, she unwinds by grabbing a snack, catching up with family, and showering before diving into homework. She prioritizes assignments that require the least time and effort before tackling more demanding task.
Once her schoolwork is complete, she relaxes by scrolling through her phone or watching TV. However, despite her best efforts to manage time efficiently, Yvonna’s nights stretch late- she typically goes to bed around 1 or 2 a.m.
With a packed schedule balancing academics, extracurriculars, and personal time, Yvonna exemplifies the dedication and resilience of today’s high school students.
