The beeping alarm clock at 7:20 AM signals the start of another busy day for Shanita Savoy. As she slowly wakes up, she moves through her morning routine brushing her teeth, washing her face, and hopping in the shower to fully wake herself up. Since she picks out her outfit the night before, she avoids the morning rush and gets dressed with ease. Once she grabs her school supplies and anything else she needs for the day, she heads out the door, ready to take on the day
Once at school, Shanita focuses on getting through her classes efficiently. She makes sure to complete her work, or at least get a good portion of it done, so she doesn’t have to stress it as much when she gets home. Staying ahead helps her manage her responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed. Lunchtime is a highlight of her day. Instead of eating the school lunch, Shanita prefers to bring her own meals from home, sometimes even full homemade dishes. Whether she’s enjoying a well-prepared meal or grabbing a quick snack from the vending machine, she takes this time to relax and chat with her friends before getting back to class.
After the final bell, Shanita doesn’t head straight home. Instead, she stays back to manage the girls’ basketball team, a responsibility she takes seriously. From organizing equipment to assisting coaches and ensuring everything runs smoothly, she plays a vital role in keeping the team on track. Even though it’s a lot of work, she enjoys being part of it and values the experience.
By the time Shanita gets home, exhaustion starts to set in, but she knows the day isn’t over yet. She takes some time to unwind before diving into her homework, making sure she keeps up with assignments before they pile up.
On top of school and basketball, Shanita also runs a hair-cutting business. She spends part of her evening scheduling client appointments and making sure everything is organized.
After a long and productive day, Shanita takes a relaxing bath to help her unwind. This is her time to reflect, clear her mind, and prepare for the next day. By 11:00 PM, she’s in bed, ready to rest and do it all over again tomorrow.
