Interviewer: “What artist got you through high school?”
Gymiah: “Artist? I would probably have to say Lana Del Ray.”
Interviewer: “How does her music describe your high-school experience? Like, why Lana Del Ray?”
Gymiah: “Not gonna lie, she’s kind of depressing but she has
a lot of song that resonated with what I was going through high school.”
Interviewer: “Alright what are your plans after high school”
Gymiah: “Well, after high school,
I plan to go to college. I’ve already been accepted into my
dream school, so that’s probably where I’m gonna go and
I will study civil engineering.
Interviewer: “What’s your dream school?”
Gymiah: “My dream school is Mary State University. It is
in Kentucky, but y’know it’s where I want to go.
Interviewer: “Alright, I’m happy for you…so,
what advice do you have for underclassmen?”
Gymiah: “I know this sounds generic but please don’t
ever give up because working hard will get you very far.
No matter if you’re not in as many clubs as everyone else,
not doing as many activities as everyone else, if you’re still
diligent, you have more of a chance to go where you
want to.”
Interviewer: “Alright, what’s your favorite memory from high school?”
Gymiah: “Probably winning regionals for the girls’ varsity
soccer team. That was definitely my favorite thing in my sophomore year.”
Interviewer: “How long were you on the soccer team for?”
Gymiah: “I was on the varsity soccer team all four years.”
Interviewer: “And what position did you play?”
Gymiah: “From my freshman through junior year I played
center-back and mid-fielder. Then for senior year I played
goalkeeper.
Interviewer: “And did you guys win any games?”
Gymiah: “Yes, we were 7-3 this season.”
Interviewer: “What’s your biggest lesson from high school?”
Gymiah: “My biggest lesson…to not worry about what
other people are doing. Literally worry about yourself.”
Interviewer: “What’s your favorite memory before high school?”
Gymiah: “Probably 8th grade drama club.”
Interviewer: “So you were on the soccer team and the drama club?”
Gymiah: “Yes”
Interviewer: “And what was the hardest thing about high school?”
Gymiah: “Definitely juggling all the different
things you have to do. Because I was involved
in quite a lot of things throughout my high school
experience.”
Interviewer: “So would you recommend a lot of extra-curricular activities?”
Gymiah: “Honestly, I say yes. If you can, do
as much as you can. Because it makes your high school experience fun although it may be challenging and it looks good on your applications for when you get to college.”
