Serenity Burnside was raised in Maryland with her family. She grew up in a nice, warmly decorated single family home and attended three Charles County Schools: Berry Elementary, Mattawoman Middle School, and lastly, North Point High School. Her hopes for the future are to become an ER nurse and impact people’s lives through equal and equitable healthcare.
Q1: What artist got you through high school, and what song would you say describes your year?
A: “Noah Kahan. The song that describes my year would be Call Your Mom.”
Q2: What are your plans after high school and why?
A: “I’m going to attend CSM and study nursing. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse and help people when they need it most.”
Q3: What advice do you have for underclassmen?
A: “Always do your assignments and surround yourself with friends who bring out the best in you, not the worst.”
Q4: What is your favorite memory from high school?
A: “My favorite memory from high school is my first musical. It was really fun and I was a part of the set crew.”
Q5: What’s the biggest lesson high school has taught you?
A: “The biggest lesson that high school taught me was that you must want something bad enough to work hard for it.”
Q6: How do you feel from freshman year to now?
A: “Freshman year was wide eyed and thought high school was everything, now I know it’s just a stop on the way to the real/adult world.”
Q7: What is your favorite memory from before high school? (K-8th)
A: “My favorite memory is my 8th grade field trip to Mount Vernon.”
Q8: What is the hardest thing about high school?
A: “The hardest thing about high school is keeping up with eight classes worth of assignments while also balancing extracurricular activities and family/friends.”
