Ambitious Eagles Set out for Victory

This year’s Varsity Volleyball is looking very optimistic. The girls are ready to improve themselves and show the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference that North Point is the best. In practice the girls have been working hard to push themselves to be the best person on and off the court. The players are ready for the challenge and are willing to step up to the plate.

The head coach this year is Coach Stephen Solohub. When asked how he started coaching he responded he has been playing volleyball for a very long time and coached at Mary Baldwin College, an all girls’college, for two years. He started coaching for North Point after having one of the coaches asked him to step in. Coach Solohub has high expectations for his girls this year. He wants them to go beyond the first round and knows they have the talent to do so.

The coach is not the only person ready for this new season. “I think the team has the potential to go very far” says Captain Catie O’Donnell (‘15). The girls are ready for this season and the chance to show how much they can do. Also, Captain Crystal Simmons (’15) went on to say “I think the team will do very well and go very far. We work extremely well together and I’m really excited for what this season will bring.” Varsity Volleyball proudly represents North Point and makes an effort to carry the name with pride. They have already had a great start to their season by winning their first game against Soghton Keough. If you talk to any of the girls you can hear the passion for the game in their voice. They are devoted and ready to put the work in.

This season North Point will show Southern Maryland Athletic Conference who the best team out there is. Come out and support the girls this season as they battle their way to victory.
