The Next Generation

Next year will mark a new era of high school Students with the class of 2018. There are no more 90’s babies. Wednesday May 14, many new eager and excited rising Freshman were welcomed by numerous staff and the North Point High School Poms team as they paraded through the eagle tunnel.

North Point put on quite a show Wednesday night with several performances from the performing arts program. The Jazz band played dazzling musical selections and featured a vocal soloist in their final number “America the Beautiful.”  Following that performance, the AFJROTC color guard presented the colors as North Point’s chamber choir sang the national anthem. Finally to conclude the performances the North Point Poms squad performed their hip hop routine.

Freshman welcome night is designed to give rising freshman an opportunity to explore some of the many organizations North Point has to offer. Not only was it a great way for current students to get to know their future classmates but it also gave the opportunity for the incoming students to meet new faces for next year.

This night was not only for the students benefit but for the parents as well. After the performances students and parents were greeted with lots of information regarding North Point expectations and procedures. Students also had an opportunity to sign up for clubs and sports teams that they thought they would like to join as well as even purchase North Point apparel.

It goes without saying that this next generation of innovators is a bright one. Future North Point Eagle Solomon Wallace had this to say about what he is looking forward to in his high school career: “I am really looking forward to engineering and new challenges that it will bring me.” Wallace (’18) is also looking forward to trying new things and joining Skills USA.

The class of 2018 is going to be North Point High School’s first graduating class of students born in the 21st century. This class and others to follow will be presented with more technology throughout their high school career as we grow into this changing technological era. Goodbye 90’s Hello 2000!
